History of the Dealership

  The year was 1946.  It was the end of the Second World War and two entrepreneur’s Warren Lovegren and Merle Stone opened the Lovegren and Stone Body Shop.  It wasn’t long before the two acquired a Pontiac Dealership, 1948 to be exact.  Mr. Stone decided to go out on his own and in 1952 the Lovegren Motor Company was formed.  By 1954 Mr. Lovegren added Buick and then GMC Truck in 1957.It was in 1958 that a young businessman named Stan Lovegren went to work for the dealership and earned his first paycheck, for $1.50!  Not bad for a week’s worth of work. Luckily that was the first of many more to come as Stan started full time work with the dealership in 1970. Stan purchased the dealership from his father in 1984 and has been the Dealer since that time.
 
The facility was renovated in 1997 and is very aesthetically pleasing. It is located downtown Sanger, next to the Post Office. As everyone aspires to do in their life, Stan and his wife Ann decided to retire.  He sold the business in July 2008 to Brett and Sarah Hedrick. Brett found that the dealership was run very similar to the dealership that he grew up in, Hedrick’s Chevrolet in Clovis.  Brett’s mother’s side of the family was all from Sanger, so the pieces fell in line. And so began Hedrick’s Buick-Pontiac-GMC.  Brett retained the employees as he says “The people are what make the dealership” and so their motto is “business as usual”. 

No big changes, just friendly service in a small town atmosphere.  The tradition continues...
